You’d think that writing about a charming boutique hotel in a German city I lived in for 3 years would be a piece of Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, right? Right!?
(Also, am I the only one who detests the combo of chocolate and cherry?)
Well, half a litre of iced tea, one custard pudding and a slice of Butterbrot later, I was still sulking in bed with a double chin, wondering, “Why in the world did I think writing about ONE HUNDRED hotels was a good idea?”
That’s when my most sensible husband suggested that I go do something else for a bit. Take a bath, maybe.
And wouldn’t you know it, that did the trick!
So, here I am. Moisturised. Focused. Flourishing.
It’s day 5 of 100 Hotels in 100 Days, and I’m writing about Heidelberg Suites, a boutique hotel perched on the banks of the Neckar river.

Recap
Phew. This was a tough day. I’m so glad I managed.
I might need to reconsider my strategy. Perhaps choosing a narrow focus to start and then digging deeper? After all, writing hero sections is about defining a unique value proposition for each hotel. So go deep.
Lessons
Always always always think about the human on the other side of the screen.
You are writing these heros to help people find the right hotel for them. It’s not about being clever or eloquent; it’s about helping them decide, “Is this the place for me?”
